ISO stands for International Standards Organization or the
International Organization for Standardization. The ISO is responsible
for acting as an international standards organization that develops
manufacturing and performance standards for a wide a variety of
industries.
The ISO sets standards in many businesses and technologies, including
computing and communications. The ISO is a voluntary, non-treaty
organization founded in 1946 which is responsible for creating
international standards in many areas. Its members are the national
standards organizations of the 89 member countries, including ANSI for
the U.S. |
