Plastic Surgery is the field of surgery having to do with reducing
scarring or disfigurement that may occur as a result of accidents, birth
defects, or treatment for diseases. Some plastic surgeons perform
cosmetic surgery that is unrelated to medical conditions.
Plastic surgery is a general term for operative manual and
instrumental treatment which is performed for functional or aesthetic
reasons. The word 'plastic' derives from the Greek 'plastikos' meaning
to mould or to shape. It is not connected with modern plastics. Plastic
surgery continues to gain popularity due to the spread of cosmetic
surgery in actors. |
